The role of youth in evaluating national programs in Nigeria is crucial. Nigeria has one of the largest youth populations in the world, and this demographic group has the potential to drive significant change and progress in the country. Youth can offer a fresh perspective on national programs and policies and can provide feedback on how well these initiatives are serving their intended purposes. They can identify gaps in implementation and suggest solutions to address them.

Furthermore, youth can play an active role in holding the government accountable for the effective implementation of national programs. They can participate in public debates, forums, and other forms of engagement to voice their opinions and concerns about these programs. In addition, youth can use social media and other digital platforms to promote transparency and accountability in the implementation of national programs. They can use these platforms to monitor progress, report any cases of corruption or misuse of funds, and promote good governance.

Overall, the role of youth in evaluating national programs in Nigeria is essential. Youth participation can ensure that these programs are effective, efficient, and responsive to the needs of the Nigerian people. Promoting community youth-based multistakeholder partnership for development in Nigeria can help to address the challenges facing the country and foster sustainable development. To achieve this, the following steps can be taken:

Establishing a platform for youth engagement: A platform can be created for youth to participate in decision-making processes and contribute to development efforts in their communities. This platform can include youth-focused organizations, community groups, and other stakeholders.

Encouraging youth leadership: Youth should be encouraged to take leadership roles in community development initiatives. This can be achieved by providing leadership training and mentoring programs, as well as opportunities for youth to engage in decision-making processes.

Fostering collaboration among stakeholders: Collaboration among stakeholders is essential for the success of community youth-based multistakeholder partnerships. This can be achieved by creating a platform for regular dialogue, engagement, and coordination among stakeholders. Defining shared objectives and priorities: Shared objectives and priorities should be defined by all stakeholders in the partnership. This can be achieved through a participatory process that involves all stakeholders.

Building trust and accountability: Trust and accountability are key components of successful partnerships. Trust can be built by creating a transparent and inclusive process, while accountability can be achieved by establishing clear reporting mechanisms and regular monitoring and evaluation.

Overall, promoting community youth-based multistakeholder partnership for development in Nigeria requires the active participation of all stakeholders and a commitment to building trust, fostering collaboration, defining shared objectives, ensuring accountability, and celebrating successes. By doing so, communities can foster sustainable development that benefits all stakeholders, particularly the youth who represent a significant demographic group in the country.

Enyenaweh Africa is supporting youth based multistakeholder partnership through our State Governance Advocates (SGA) program. There is an increased political participation by youth, with heightened expectations from public officers. There are several factors fueling these expectations, the most important is the demographic bulge in Nigeria, where over 62.5% percent of the national population is under the age of 24. Interestingly, military dictatorship ended in 1998 when over 60% of the current Nigerian population was merely 8 years old. The youth that the current administration is engaging from May 29, 2019, has little or no memory of military rule. They have witnessed the powers of citizen propelled revolution from the Arab spring, the end of former military dictators in Africa and voted out an incumbent president. The Nigerian polity is changing and will demand accountability, effective and efficient service delivery, and a government responsive to citizens demands.
